Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) refer to Locomotor skills – hop, skip, jump etc., Object control skills – kick, catch, throw etc., and, balance.
Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), is a neurological disorder that affects planning and performance of movements owing to inaccurate messages sent from the brain to the body.
MINT have been at the fore of research on FMS acquisition and evaluation. We have been particularly instrumental in capturing and analysing large, cloud-based movement data on FMS performance and related cognition (memory, attention, spatial awareness, visual processing etc).
More recently, MINT have engaged in projects involving Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD).
In both settings, our findings and results have been used as inputs to improve knowledge and understanding of the areas and, to inform development of interventions and programmes that aim to tackle individual learner needs
